Resource forecast should precede resource investigation. This me-thod achieves better resujt, especially in the case of the mountainwhose absolute height is between 1,000 and 3,500m. By dividing the landscape-structure elements of 'medium-sizedmountains' into topography, hydrology biology, climate and meteoro-logy, we later obtain rich information about tourist resources indoorsaccording to the maps, space photos, specific charts and inspectionreports. Mt. Emei is an example. If we take qualita tive and qu-antitative analysis of its slope differences, its topography and itsnatural enviromment, we will find that the 'peak forest' area isthe most splendid in terms of natural landscape and that the st-alagmite Ditch ensures a good prospect for development. Furthermore, the distribution of landscape resources in all the famous mountainsof our country shows that the most splendid natural landscapesare in the areas with concentrated steep and varied mountain pe-aks, whose average slopes are 35°--40°, with a relative height andmulti-grade planes and topography. They offer both value of app-reciation and venues for tourist concentration and dispersal. Thelandscape areas of 'medium-sized' mountains are luxuriant, and theelements of their landscape formation are mostly distributed on themid-upper parts of the mountains and their landscape resources aremostly located on a geological-formed belt. Granite and gravel rockunderlie the main landskape formation. In short, this article is based on such disciplines as geography, maps and charts, and remote-sensing to explore the research methodof tourist earth science. It presents a method of how to forecastthe tourist resources of medium-sized mountains. This method willhelp locate new resources, and expand already-developed resourcesin a faster and more economical way.
