摘要：Since the pine wood nematode (PWN) was discovered in Jiangsu Province in 1982, it has occurred in seven provinces in China. The long distance spread of PWN is via the transport of infected logs and products made from infected pine wood from other countries or other places inside China where pine wood nematode is present. PWN is an enormous potential threat to pine forests in South and Central China, because the temperature in this area is favourable, the vector beetle is present, the pine species are susceptible and PWN already occurs in some places. Pines have been very important forestry trees in China. The area of planted pines is about 20% of total forestry. Pines are considered as the symbol of longevity for the Chinese people, who are consequently very fond of them. Since the pine wood nematode was discovered at Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, this nematode has occurred in 59 counties (or cities) in six provinces. The federal and local governments have paid great attention to this disease, because pine wood nematode has destroyed about 20 million pine trees in 75 000 ha, and this nematode is spreading further.
