Fauna investigation of Satyridae in Nanling National Nature Reserve(NNNR) had been conducted during 1990—1998 and 2006—2015. Records show that there are 68 satyridae species in NNNR, of which 57 species belong to Oriental realm and 50 species are co-existent in South China, Southeastern China and Central China. It is indicated that NNNR's Saturidae faunal elements, like its floral elements, are mainly subtropical. 29 species of genus Lethe were found in NNNR, which exceeds those found in the province-wide of Yunnan, Hainan, Taiwan and Fujian, etc. A four-year line transect survey on both south and north slopes with different altitudes in Nanling Mountain was taken from 2012—2015, it recorded 669 individuals of 39 Satyridae species, of which 417 individuals of 32 species were found on the south slope, 180 individuals of 23 species on the north slope, and 72 individuals of 5 species on the mountaintop. Results of the investigation further revealed that more tropical and subtropical satyridae species were found on the south slope, and on both slopes the numbers of Satyridae species in forests at 1 000—1 100 m a.s.l.(above sea level) is larger than those in forests at 500—600 m a.s.l. One reason is that the winter temperature on the south slope is higher than that on the north slope, and another is that forests at 1 000—1 100 m a.s.l. are less disturbed than those at 500—600 m a.s.l.
