摘要：This paper discussed the necessity and the prospect of development of high yield pulping in China, based on the present status of rapid development of Chinese pulp and papermaking industry and the great market potential as well as the fact, that the fast-growing plantations and the wood chip industry, using wood residues in forest areas, have seen vigorously developed. The reconstruction of small straw pulp mills is also a good opportunity for developing high yield pulping in China. The Chinese Government and Ministry of Forestry have paid a great attention to the development of high yield pulping in China. The successful implementation of UNDP project "Development of High Yield Pulping of Fast-growing Wood and Forest Wood Residues" and introduction of production equipment in some Chinese pulp mills have created favourable conditions for further development of high yield pulping in China. The further work to enhance the development of high yield pulping in China, such as suitable raw materials and regions, technology and equipment, construction scale and end use products is also discussed.
