摘要:Wood scrimber composite (WSC) was an attractive candidate in the field of construction engineering. Research on wear resistance was essential to promote the increasing development momentum of WSC. Here, the effects of density and resin content on the wear resistance of WSCs were investigated, as well as wear resistance enhanced mechanism was expounded. The results demonstrated that wear resistance of WSC increased with rising density and resin content, WSC with 1.35 g/cm3 and 15% resin content showed best thickness loss Δt of only 0.0414 mm, which was reduced by 85.20% compared with the poplar wood. At the macroscale, a denser structure and a more uniform resin distribution improved the wear resistance of WSC. At the molecular scale, compression densification increased the hardness of WSC, and the cured resin prevented cellulose chains from slipping during wear. At the cellular scale, the intercellular layer modulus increased from 6-8 MPa of poplar wood to 15-17 MPa of WSC, which lead to the WSC cell being less prone to wear and shedding under external forces such as friction and cutting.
