摘要:Wood is a super natural polymer composite with some inherent properties, such as poor dimension stability, relatively low strength, easy degradation due to insect attack, and poor perception of fire resistance. On the other hand, the development of the low carbon industry accelerates the uses and requirements of the advanced wood-based composites. This chapter gives an extended introduction on the wood-based reinforced composites worldwide from three main categories: thermal, chemical, and mechanical reinforcements. The processes of reinforced composites are first discussed in detail. The properties of the reinforced composite, such as mechanical properties, dimensional stability, distribution of bonded chemicals, thermal properties, and bonding strength are then presented. Third, the chapter interprets the reinforcing mechanisms of thermal treatment, chemical modification, and densification treatments. Finally, their application prospects and future trends are illustrated. ? 2017 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved.
