摘要:Due to a large-scale outbreak of Sphaeroma in Dongzhai Harbor, the mangrove forests have suffered extensive damage. To identify the reasons behind this, the present study conducted a preliminary investigation into the ecological characteristics of Sphaeroma, water quality, food sources (planktonic organisms), and abundance of macrobenthos in both the areas affected by Sphaeroma and the unaffected Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Protection Area. The research findings indicate that both Sphaeroma terebrans and Sphaeroma retrolaeve are the primary damaging species causing mangrove degradation. The distribution of Sphaeroma is not correlated with water temperature, salinity, pH, or chemical oxygen demand (COD). However, it is correlated with dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP), total suspended solids (TSS), chlorophyll a (Chl-a), and zooplankton abundance. The excessive levels of DIN and DIP caused by human activities have led to an increase in Sphaeroma's food sources (planktonic organisms), resulting in the outbreak of Sphaeroma, which subsequently affects the distribution of macrobenthos. This study may provide valuable insights for mangrove conservation.
