摘要:China is one of most species-rich countries on the planet (McNeely et al., 1990). It is home to more than 30, 000 species of plants, with 243 endemic genera (Ying et al., 1993), ranking third in the world for floral diversity (Han and Wang, 1993). Human population expansion, industrial development, and deforestation over the last four decades are placing the Chinese flora in jeopardy (Hong and Fu, 1993). An estimated 15% to 20% of plant species are endangered. The rate of species loss is higher in the subtropical and tropical areas (Chen, 1993). ? 1998 by UNESCO.
