摘要:Moisture adjustment is an important step for establishing the allowable properties for structural lumber. ASTM D1990 provides the procedures for adjusting dimension lumber design properties for moisture content. It may be advisable to scale property adjustments for species with substantially different properties from the Douglas-fir and Southern pine. For Chinese fir dimension lumber, it is difficult to get the property adjustment according to these procedures. In the paper, Chinese fir dimension lumbers were sorted into three matched test groups by dynamical modulus of elasticity. Three groups were conditioned to different moisture contents, respectively. Then bending strength property of dimension lumbers was tested in full size. The models between bending strength vs. moisture content relationships were developed and compared with other models developed earlier. Simplified procedures were provided for adjusting bending strength of Chinese fir dimension lumber for moisture content which is suitable for materials properties codes or standards.
