摘要:Tomogram accuracy and error rates from different sensor numbers and distributions in defects detection of Euphrates poplar with stress wave tomography were obtained and discussed in this study. Results showed that the accuracy rate would be improved by increasing the number of sensors. For different testing purposes, ten sensors should be used if the investigators hope to obtain a 60 % accuracy rate. However, for obtaining a more accurate defect shape and size, 12 sensors were required, but 22 or more sensors were required to obtain more than a 90 % accuracy rate and an error rate less than 10 %. Tomograms from random, semicircle and an equal sensor distribution with 12 sensors all can detect decayed and hollow areas in tree stems. However, statistical analysis indicated that the accuracy rate does not have a significant difference at the 0.05 confidence level. The results suggest that an equal sensor distribution should be applied if accurately detecting defect shape and size must be obtained in the field.
