摘要:采用碱沉淀法将壳聚糖用于造纸填料级沉淀碳酸钙的覆膜改性,对改性填料的性质及应用性能进行研究。结果表明,碱沉淀法可有效地用于沉淀碳酸钙的壳聚糖覆膜改性,经改性后,填料的Zeta电位增加、白度有所下降,相应加填浆料的滤水性能略有改善,溶解性也有所变化;沉淀碳酸钙的壳聚糖覆膜改性可显著提高加填纸的抗张指数,但加填纸的白度下降、不透明度无明显变化、光散射系数随壳聚糖用量的增加先增大后减小,且当壳聚糖用量在5%以内时,填料留着率有所提高。
Chitosan-coated papermaking grade precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) filler was prepared by alkali precipitation. The coated amount of chitosan was measured, and the Zeta potential, dissolution behavior, brightness, retention and drainage property of PCC and chitosan-coated PCC, as well as the strength and optical properties of the filled handsheets were investigated. The experimental results showed that chitosan-coated PCC is successfully prepared by alkali precipitation, and the chitosan film can be firmly and effectively coated and anchored on the surface of PCC, and also there is almost no chitosan lost during the PCC modification process. After the chitosan-coating modification, Zeta potential of the filler increases, and the drainage property is slightly improved, and the dissolution behavior and brightness are also changed. The coated PCC was found to be quite effective in the strength property improvement of the filled handsheets as compared with the uncoated PCC, and its retention property is also superior to uncoated PCC when the coated amount is relatively low. Also, it was found that the chitosan-coating modification has no obvious effect on the opacities of the filled handsheets, however the light scattering coefficients of the filled handsheets are somewhat influenced. Based on the experimental results, it is concluded that the cost-effective method of filler modification is efficient in filler property enhancement, and it can possibly make the unmodified water-insoluble chitosan suitable for use in the production of PCC filled paper or paperboard products.
